These rods have a lightweight feel, yet they load quickly and easily on the casting stroke. The response to angler input is nothing short of excellent and that remains the case whether you cast a full floating line, a shooting head or a sinking line. Horizon rods will easily handle the entire range of freshwater offerings from tiny drys for wary trout, to large, wind-resistant flies needed for salmon, steelhead, northern pike, muskie, bass and a host of other gamefish as well. Extended length rods (9 1/2 foot and longer) are advantageous in those situations where it is necessary to mend line in strong currents, execute elevated back casts to prevent the fly from striking shoreline obstacles and fishing from low-profile platforms like float tubes and kayaks.
