Hi there, I'm back. I've reconsidered and I'm sorry to tell you that the reels will not be for sale. I simply could not bring myself to put a price on them, particularly the FR-6AR, the rarest of the set. I found mine by doing a series of searches every single day. I found it on a dealer's shelf in England and made arrangements to buy it immediately. It was one of only two I have ever found. So I wish you luck on that one. As for the FR-12AR, those seem to be a little more common. I have seen references by people to three or four of them in which the writer indicated they owned one of them. I got mine from an ex-employee of Fin Nor. As for the other reels in the series, the FR-8s and -10s, they can be had by watching E-Bay for a couple of years. Both of the intermediate sized reels are very nice, and well suited to either the display case or on the back of the boat shooting for a Sailfish or something of that sort. The FR-6 is more of a Dolphin sort of reel but I'd be willing to put my FR-12s up against a White Marlin any day.

As for that reference to the WNC reels, I'll give you a brief explanation. After several sales the Fin Nor name and a lot of parts ended up in Willmington, North Carolina; the company had been bought by the Cape Fear Rod Company. They were building reels out of parts that came with the sale of the company and wanted to reintroduce the FR series of reels, beginning with the FR-8DD. So they had a set of 13 prototypes made by a local machine shop, 5 of which were kept by Officers of the company and the rest sent out for "field testing" by the sporting magazines. However before production began the company was resold to Shakespeare, who have not indicated any inclination to make any fly reels. So the WNC reels are FR prototypes and very rare reels. They are easily distinguished by their unique serial numbers.

I have both a Fin Nor FR-6 and FR-12 in anti reverse. The FR-6 is a new unused reel in its original packaging that is so fresh and clean that it actually has the original wrapping around it and packing grease in it. The FR-12AR has been used but is in near perfect condition. It took me 12 years to find the FR12 and 14 years to find the FR6. I also have the rest of the FR series reels, all 8 of them. I would entertain an offer for either the two reels or the complete set. Oh, the set includes one of the WNC reels, which you may know were the prototypes (13 of the produced) for the reintroduction of the FR series before the company was sold off shore. Just about any search on the web will bring up the pictures of my 8 reels, lined up with the direct drive reels over top of the anti reverse. There are two versions of the photo, one is missing a reel or two, but one has all 8 of them and then there is a set of photos around that show the internals of an FR8. Many of the photos you will find of FR reels on the web were taken of my reels. Go ahead, Make an offer, but you may as well know, they won't come cheap.

John,
Sory it took so long, the links are old but I do a constable surch form time to time to check them. I don't know if you are interested in parting with the Constable or not. The Brokenstraw is one that I don't have and would be intrested, if you are incline to sell. Constable was a great rod maker for someone who wanted his rods fished. He was a builder that thought if the rod doesen't need to be fancy to work and cast reilly well. I will give you my e-mail address, it will make contacting me easier.
Hope to hear from you.
