Recommendations for a 3 wt. rod and reel to use on small trout streams in Co.

Larry,

I fish small streams in California. Since lost distance casting is not an issue I went with a Cabelas Three Forks. Got a combo for $99.00. If it was for large streams I would not go on the cheap. In this case however, I saw no need to spend on what I didn't need. Good luck.

About 2 weeks ago I picked up one of the Sage FLi 7 ft. 3 weights, Its a really nice rod. I'm hardly qualified to speak on how good it is in comparison with other rods but it has quickly become my favorite out of the few rods that I have. It was $245, but it does have a lifetime warranty and I believe it to be well worth the money. I know the Cabela's fly fishing catalogue sells them in Combo's with some of their own reels for a pretty good price. I have an older Cabela's fly reel and I don't liuke it too much but it looks like they've changed their fly fishing products a lot from when I got that reel, they're probably of a much higher quality now.
