just found your post so this comes kind of late.... i've got one, a nine foot, 4 weight three piece which was sold to me as a demo from what i think is the company's ebay stire used for clearance items.
what can i say? it catches trout. i just started flyfishing last year so i don't have much experience. never held a winston, T&T, or bamboo or anything else which might be considered the NICEST looking rods. my first rod was a temple fork outfitters 9 foot four piece 5 weight. the beaverkill is more of a medium action rod than the TFO. it's a nice rod, but i'm sure glad i didn't pay full price for it
hardware on the bkrod is titanium colored. green blanks, with matching green thread, silver and gold accent winds. cork good, not great, but not bad and better than the TFO rod's. came with a heavy duty (to me) cordura covered case, like covered heavy duty tubing. the TFO's is much lighter. but it's hard to imagine any damage with this case protecting the rod. the rod sock is integrated in the tube, so you cannot take it out. three sections for each piece, with small white tabs at the top to seperate them. i wish the strap along the side of the tue was longer so i could wear it around my back when hiking, like the TFO's. the wire hook keeper is mounted off to the left side, not below.
i had one problem with the rod. the front of the rod's cork handle squeeked a bit, as if it was missing epoxy. just a little.... and now i don't even notice it. good thing too since it was sold to me without warranty.
i just remembered... bkrods offers their rods in three different actions... i definitely chose the medium action version. hope this helps...
