We are planning a vacation to Colorado during the last two weeks of August and I've got a real problem. Which one to go to. I am thinking the Fryingpan/ South Platte/ Gunnnison. Any experiences and suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks

Been to Colorada a couple of times. August seems to be the best time. Frying Pan is best if you are on your own--lots of easy access points and big fish on drys... Colorado below Glenwood Springs is floating material. Roaring fork is almost all private land. Got yelled at and know someone who got fined for fishing on private property. Get a map! Don't know about the Gunnisen and didn't have time for the others. Best of luck.

Bob,
I fished the Gunnison several times. Right out side Crested Butte, a great old town way up in the mountains. It is a wonderful river with many fish. The town of Crested Butte is also a great place to stay. You also get a Salmon run around this time.Happy fishing

I am new this website and just saw this posting. I fished Colorado the last two weeks of June, Steamboat Springs to be exact. The fishing is great. I caught at least 60 rainbows ranging from 15 to 24 inches, most of them in the 20 inch range. Great time, great fishing, I had acess to private water on hte Yampa River. Great fishery. If you go contact Bucking Rainbow, they are in town on Lincoln Ave. Have fun.
