I will be visiting Poughkeepsie NY August 13-17 and would like to do some flyfishing. I was thinking of the Esopus but have never fished it. I would greatly appreciate any advice as to how and where to fish this stream or any others streams in the area. Thanks!

Try fishing just above five arches bridge . You can park behind the Boiceville super market right there is a wood shop called the wooden trout the owners name is george full of info and likes to talk

I had good luck in NY, using the yearling light elk hair caddis (size 16,18). Also, olive Wooly Buggers (10 or 12), dead-drifted from a run into the top of pools. Tight lines and warm feet!
